Hey lovely Reader
You may have noticed there was no podcast last week - this episode is a brief reflection that speaks to why that was.
It also explores the importance of this work of compassionate self-enquiry in order to resource ourselves for when we have to face into the hard stuff of life.
When life is flowing smoothly, it can feel easier to be calm and thoughtful. But when the curveball comes? That's when we see how the work we continue to do in the quieter moments can hold us.
The reality, of course, is that however many tools we have gathered to us, our bodies and brains react to situations faster than we can consciously, mindfully respond. It may mean we become triggered into old patterns or ways of thinking or speaking that feel at odds with the person we are today.
This work of compassionate self-enquiry is how we can learn to hold all of that without judgement.
It can be what helps us to begin to notice patterns without berating ourselves for it. We can resource ourselves; perhaps reaching out for support, making choices about how we respond to the fullness of our experience.
For me, this is what the Work gives us.
Not perfection, not some zen state of constant calm. Just the capacity to hold our shared humanness with love, especially when things are hard.
This week's episode may be short but, for me, it feels it holds something big. Listen on the Henny Flynn podcast.
And if you're facing something difficult right now, it also holds the gentlest reminder to hold space for yourself. Resource yourself. Reach out to the people who can support you. That's how we're able to truly support others too.
May you be safe, happy and well. May you live with ease. May you hold yourself and all beings with compassion.
With love
