The Show Doesn't Always Have to Go On (S20E5)

Hey lovely Reader

Full disclosure: I forgot to do this week's podcast episode.

Oops.

I don't think I've ever done that before and in the past, I would have been in agony about not showing up. I would have rushed to get it done and prove how reliable I am.

But this time I chose to let it go. And I trusted that was okay.

However!

I was thinking today about how that decision to be ok with not showing up feels at such odds with a story I have held for the majority of my life - that 'the show must go on'. And that led me to share these reflections with you (two days late) to examine how it can feel when we challenge those kinds of beliefs.

  • How do we recognise which commitments truly matter?
  • How can we discern whether every commitment always has to be honoured in exactly the same way?
  • How can we be assured this isn't about abandoning people or being unreliable?

As ever there is such nuance here - and it feels a little uncomfortable to share some of these reflections, because these stories can be so deeply ingrained. And these concepts might feel very tender.

Have a listen on the Henny Flynn podcast. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what resonates. And see where the episode takes you.

May we all live with compassion.

With love

PS: I also want to thank everyone who's sent kind messages over the past few weeks. I am very grateful to say my loved one is now home.
