Choosing Love Over Certainty: Floating Home with Adam Lind (S16E10)

Hey lovely Reader

This week’s episode is a conversation with my friend Adam Lind - author, coach, speaker and wonderful human - and we dive deep into vulnerability.

Not as a buzzword, but as a lived experience.

Adam lives on a narrowboat and recently published a book that’s part life story, part invitation to pause and reflect. He speaks about loss - his father died when he was 17 - and how that catapulted him into a very different way of living and thinking. After meeting his wife at university, they went on a five-year hitchhiking journey across continents, living hand-to-mouth and staying with strangers.

Along the way he's been collecting stories. Human ones. Messy ones. Ones that remind him (and us) that we're not alone.

Choosing Love Over Certainty: Floating Home with Adam Lind (S16E10)

In our conversation, we talk about:

  • What it feels like to be honest when someone asks “how are you?”
  • The power of saying “I’m okay, but I don’t feel okay - and that’s okay”
  • What happens when we stop chasing freedom outside of us, and start looking for it inside
  • How easy it is to fall into the trap of proving we’re okay through performative success
  • And why creativity often isn’t purely about sharing with others - but remembering something for ourselves

There’s a lot of laughter in this one - and a few tears too. It’s wide-ranging, reflective, and very human. We talk about grief, love, writing, relationships, festival friendships, and the mysterious alchemy that happens when you let go of the plan and just see where the conversation takes you.

Adam is someone who walks his talk. And his talk isn’t about being right. It’s about being perfectly imperfect, and being ok with that.

May you be happy, safe and well. May your life be filled with ease.

With love
